Kosher on Campus

Brown University

Due to Covid-1,9 Brown students’ kosher meals are individually packaged, sealed, and are certified kosher by the KVH when properly marked and sealed. These meals are only for students on the kosher meal plan. They are available for pickup outside the Sharpe Refectory (the Ratty).
These certified kosher meals are always available for pre-order.
In the Ivy Room, there are sealed kosher certified (by the KVH) meals available for purchase. This is open to students as well as the public. However, this room is currently closed due to Covid-19.

Brown Hillel
Orthodox services led by Rabbi Moshe Moskowitz are available on a rotating schedule monthly (approx.). Shabbat meals during these weeks only are supervised by Rabbi M. Moskowitz.
Due to Covid-19, Shabbat meal boxes are available for your student group. These are sealed and certified by the KVH. Please be in contact with Hillel about ordering requirements and pickup information.

Community Services

Kosher Senior Café
The Kosher Senior Café, offers social activities as well as delicious hot meals to Seniors. Due to Covid-19 the sites are currently closed, however sealed certified kosher (by Rhode Island Kosher) meals are now being delivered to homes. These meals are free to anyone over 65 years old. A suggested donation of $3 per meal is appreciated. Visit JCSRI.org or email Neal Drobnis at Neal@jfsri.org for more information. The hope is to continue this new option for kosher certified meals when we reopen our in-person café at both locations with a pre-order.

The Louis & Goldie Chester Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is the only Kosher Food Pantry in the state of RI.  The food pantry distributes kosher chicken, produce, and a wide range of nonperishable foods, along with personal care items. Pantry hours are varied due to COVID-19.  The Kosher Food Pantry can offer delivery service to home-bound individuals.  Please call Marcie Ingber, Program Coordinator, at 401-331-1244 or email at Marcie@jfsri.org for the schedule. We do recommend individuals receiving these services to check their items to make sure that they meet their kosher standards.
