Cleaning for Pesach
There are three categories of areas in regards to cleaning for Pesach. To determine which level of cleaning needs to be done, one needs to determine which category the area falls into first.
A - a place that chometz is never brought into such as a storage room or garage. Theses areas do not require cleaning or searching for chometz. If there are small children that have access to these areas, then the area must be cleaned and checked for chometz.
B - an area that occasionally has food brought into it but does not have any food eaten there on Pesach such as a bedroom, living room or den. These areas must be cleaned for edible chometz but not for crumbs or residue.
C - an area that usually has food in it and food will be eaten there on Pesach. This also includes a surface that may lead to inadvertent chometz consumption such as an area where Pesach dishes are stored and/or has food prepped there, such as tables, chairs, cabinets and their door handles and refrigerators and their door handles. These areas must be 100% cleaned in all their corners and crevasses. They should also be covered or kashered afterwards.
